Here’s my story, hope it makes for some interesting reading….
As a child I always had an artistic and creative flare that my parents helped me explore. I also had an insatiable need to surround myself with other children. While growing up I found that my best work was usually done when I was encouraged to use my creativity collaboratively with others. As the years passed, I found myself drawn to a variety of different careers, including teaching and finally into the world of Corporate America, constantly searching for an outlet for my creative abilities.
As with many child and family photographers, my ultimate creative outlet was not fully discovered until the birth of my children. After two years of marriage and many unsuccessful attempts to have children, my husband Jaime and I learned that we were pregnant the day before Valentine’s Day. What better gift than that of a child? That day the doctor told us that we were going to be doubly blessed-TWINS! Our prayers had been answered and we looked forward to the exciting road ahead.
I had a fairly normal pregnancy, until my sixth month when I was in a car accident. The accident caused me to go into premature labor and I was immediately admitted into the hospital on full bed rest for the remainder of my pregnancy. While in the hospital I had a lot of time to think about what was truly important in my life—family and friends. After 42 days in the hospital, and 11 weeks before their due date, the twins arrived. Weighing less than three pounds each, they were immediately admitted into the NICU and spent the next 10 weeks there.
Every day we would document their growth and their progress with photos, knowing that every moment was precious. I always had a baby in my arms and a camera in my hand; I didn’t want to miss a single moment. It was then that I realized how important it is to document the “everyday” moments that many of us take for granted.
As the twins grew and got stronger, so did my urge to start a business that would allow me to capture those everyday moments for others. And so, Sadie James Photography was born, named after the two little miracles in my life, my son, James Thomas and my daughter, Sadie Grace.
I feel so grateful to have finally found something that lets me bring all of my passions together: my love for children, my entrepreneurial spirit, and my love of photography. I can’t wait to capture those “everyday” moments in your life, the special ones that are uniquely yours.
P.S. Here are my little guys, who aren’t so little anymore
